Darkline Design was founded in 2006 in Lexington, Kentucky. All Darkline designs and artwork begin with original photography and are adapted to signature designs or digital art that imitates oils, pastels, and other art mediums.

Ali McGee Kelly, the designer, has been working with digital photography for over eight years. Starting out with a top-of-the-line 3.1 megapixel camera (please note sarcasm), Ali explored the possibilities of taking photos without the hindrance of film. Gradually, her interest has evolved to focus on two primary subject matters: animals and macro photography.

Animal photography is Ali’s primary passion. Beginning with ducks and geese, Ali developed an interest in capturing the facial features of animals in a close-up image. While she has a knack for cats in particular, Ali adores all animals and will befriend any dog, snake, bird, or squirrel who is willing to have its picture taken. Animal portraits recently developed into what has become the inspiration for the Darkline Design studio. Original animal photography became a muse for the Darkline Signature designs. Each signature design is inspired and adapted from a unique image. Darkline Designs are each original creations.

Macro photos are close-up images of the artist’s subject matter. Macro photography will often capture intense detail of an object while blurring the surrounding image. This type of photography also allows the artist to be somewhat abstract in style as it is not always obvious what the subject is supposed to be.

Now Darkline Design is spreading its wings on the web and into internet commerce. With the assistance of Lowrock Design, Darkline Design has become a stylish addition to today’s World Wide Web.
